  • On Sunday, March 10, 2013, at approximately 12:00PM, officers were dispatched to Red Tailed Lane for a report a male had just stabbed a dog and left the area. While officers were enroute, dispatch advised another male had called and stated he and his dog had been attacked by another dog while walking on Red Tailed Ln. The owner of the dog that had been stabbed transported his dog to an emergency veterinarian clinic in Lorain where the dog expired. The other male and his dog had no injuries. An investigation was conducted and Gerald Miller, age 43 of Lakewood, was charged with Prohibitions Concerning Companion Animals.


  • On Sunday, March 10, 2013 at 3:30PM, an officer was dispatched to a business on North Leavitt Road in reference to a theft of a twenty dollar bill. lt was learned the day before a male entered the store and purchased a pack of cigarettes for $4.93. The male paid with a 50 dollar bill and received two 20 dollar bills and 1 five dollar bill for change. The male slipped one of the twenty dollar bills into his pocket and convinced the cashier she shorted him one twenty dollar bill. An investigation was conducted and Michael Kocak, age 38 of Lorain, was charged with petty theft.


  • On Monday, March 11, 2013 at approximately 1:50 AM, officers were dispatched to Jackson St. for a loud party and bonfire. Upon arrival, the officers observed a large fire with several people around it. As officers approached, one male ran after being told to stop. That male, Jack Smith, age 18 of Amherst, was cited for Obstructing Official Business. An investigation was conducted and Tyler Young, age 18 of Amherst, was cited for Disturbing the Peace and Open Burning.   A third male, Earl Calvert, age 22 of Elyria, was cited for Disorderly Conduct and turned over to another department on a warrant.


  • On Monday, March 11, 2013, at approximately 11:57 PM, officers were dispatched to a bar on Park Avenue in reference an intoxicated male causing a disturbance. Upon arrival, officers located a male who was in front of the bar confronting another male. While attempting to detain the male, he resisted arrest and fought with officers. He was eventually handcuffed and placed in a cruiser after a short struggle. Continuing the investigation, it was learned the male assaulted his friend and an employee at the bar. Witnesses also advised he exposed his genitals to a group of patrons inside the bar. He was asked to leave numerous times and refused. Danny Smith, age 21 of Amherst, was charged with Resisting Arrest, Obstructing Official Business, Disturbing The Peace, Disorderly Conduct Persisting, Disorderly Conduct Intoxication and Criminal Trespass.


  • On Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at 09:24PM, officers were dispatched to a call on Lincoln St. of an unwanted female who was reportedly intoxicated and had left driving on Cleveland Ave. While enroute to the call, an officer observed the vehicle traveling eastbound near North Woodhill Dr. The officer observed an equipment violation and a traffic stop was initiated. An investigation was conducted and Amber Ortiz, age 25 of Lorain, was cited for Operating a Vehicle Intoxicated, No Seat Belt, and License Plate Light.


  • On Thursday, March 14, 2013 at 8:03 PM, an officer as on patrol in the area of Linn Road and Cooper Foster Park Road. He observed a vehicle being operated with equipment violations. A traffic stop was initiated and an investigation conducted. Michael Reaser, age 25 of Oberlin, was charged with Driving Under Suspension, Loud Exhaust and Possession of a controlled Substance (synthetic cannabis).


  • On Saturday, March 16, 2013 at 01:05AM, officers were dispatched to the south end of Maude Neiding Park near Park Avenue reference a juvenile possibly getting jumped by a group of juveniles. While en route dispatch advised that the group, including two females, was now walking towards Woodhill Dr. Upon arrival, two males were walking westbound on the sidewalk on Park Ave. near Jackson St. There were two females and another male walking behind the two males. One officer stopped and spoke to the two males. Another officer attempted to stop the two females and the male who at that time crossed over to the south side of Park Ave. All three refused to stop walking and the juvenile male ran south on Jackson Street where he was taken into custody by the officer. An investigation was conducted and it was learned their vehicle ran out of gas at the south end of the park. The mother of the juvenile stated that they were yelling and teasing around with her juvenile son. She advised that all had consumed alcoholic beverages and were intoxicated. Vertie Woods, age 34 of Lorain, was cited for Disorderly Conduct by Intoxication, and Obstructing Official Business. David Caudill, age 23 of Lorain, Brittinee Collett, age 24 of Lorain and Jeffrey Saltis, age 23 of Lorain, were all cited for Disorderly Conduct by Intoxication. The male juvenile, age 17 of Lorain was cited into Juvenile Court.
