February 3 - February 9, 2013
- On Saturday, February 06, 2013 at 10:44 AM., officers were dispatched to a business on South Leavitt Road in reference to a report of an intoxicated male bothering the patrons of the business. The male was asking people for money and a ride. Upon the officers arrival the male was found to be intoxicated. He stated he was trying to walk to Wellington from Lorain. The male was transported to the police department to make arrangements for a ride. The officer told the male not to leave the lobby of the police department and to use the payphone to further attempt to find a ride. Shortly after, the officer had to respond to a priority call and again told the intoxicated male not to leave and that he would return shortly. As the officer was returning to the station he learned the male had left the lobby. He was located walking very quickly down Candy Lane. The male, Jason Rahrig, age 41 of Wellington, was arrested and charged with Disorderly Conduct Persisting, Disorderly Conduct Intoxication and walking on Highway Intoxicated. He was given a ride to jail.
- On Thursday, February 7, 2013 at approximately 12:15 AM., an officer on N. Leavitt Rd. observed a vehicle run a red light. As the officer followed it he observed the driver commit numerous other violations. A traffic stop was initiated and an investigation conducted. Robert Blackmon, age 51 of Elyria, was charged with Red Light Violation, Speed, No Seatbelt, Marked Lanes of Travel, Open Container in a Motor Vehicle, Operating a Vehicle Intoxicated and State Refusal.
- On Saturday, February 09, 2013, at approximately 01:32 AM., an officer observed a vehicle pull into the parking lot of a business on Cleveland Avenue during closed hours. The male driver of the vehicle parked and switched seats with a female passenger while in the parking lot. The female driver then attempted to reverse out of the parking lot and struck a pole. An investigation was conducted and James Petrillo, age 35 of Vermilion, was cited for Driving Under Suspension. Brandy Phillips, age 32 of Vermilion, was cited for Reckless Operation on Private Property.
