July 20 - July 26, 2014

  • On Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at approximately 1:30 AM, an officer observed a vehicle with heavy damage in a parking lot downtown. The officer followed a trail of fluids to a telephone pole that was apparently struck by the vehicle. The driver of the vehicle was located and an investigation was conducted. John Toman, age 34 of Amherst, was charged with Driving Over Curbs and Tree lawns, Failure to Control, Leaving the Scene of an Accident, Driving Under an ALS Suspension, Operating a Vehicle Intoxicated and State Refusal.

 

  • On Saturday, July 26, 2014 at 4:07 PM, Officers were dispatched to a residence on Linn Road, in reference to an unwanted female who was refusing to leave the residence. Upon officers arrival, contact was made with the home owner who stated approximately twenty minutes before he called police, the intoxicated female arrived on foot and entered his house. The male asked the female to leave several times and she refused. Officers spoke to the female and advised her she is not welcome on the property and needs to leave immediately. She continued to tell officers that she was invited and then sat on the couch. The officer directed her seven times to get off the couch and exit the house, but she refused. The officer walked towards her and instructed her to get up and walk outside. The female got up and started to walk towards the door and then attempted to dart past the other officer to get further into the house. At that point Sherri Bennett, age 43 of Lorain, was arrested and charged with Criminal Trespassing.

 

  • On Saturday, July 26, 2014 at approximately 11:17 PM, while investigating a fight complaint at a motel on North Leavitt Road, an officer was advised of an additional complaint of an intoxicated male attempting to gain entry into a room of patrons who were unfamiliar with the subject. The male was identified and was told to return to his room and was warned for his actions. At approximately midnight, officers were dispatched back to the motel in reference to the same male attempting to force his way into other guests' rooms again. Upon arrival, the male was observed stumbling around the upper balcony and knocking and pushing on various doors while yelling loudly. This caused several guests of the motel to be awakened and come out of their rooms to see what was going on. John Malave, age 24 of Lakewood, was charged with Criminal Trespass, Disturbing the Peace, Disorderly Conduct Intoxication and Disorderly Conduct Persisting.
