June 22 - June 28, 2014

  • On Sunday, June 22, 2014 at 9:45 PM, an officer was on patrol on State Route 58 near Cleveland Avenue when he observed a vehicle being operated with an equipment violation. A traffic stop was initiated and an investigation conducted. Chase Stephenson, age 20 of Amherst, was cited for Possession of Drugs, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Headlight Display.

 

  • On Monday, June 23, 2014 at 1:09 AM, an officer was on patrol in the area of Sipple Avenue and the rear entrance to the high school. The officer observed a group of males in the parking lot, near the entrance to the football field, south of the school. The officer observed several of the males sitting on top of a vehicle as it drove through the lot. One of the males, age 16 of Amherst, was cited for curfew and released to a parent.  

 

  • On Monday, June 23, 1014 at approximately 4:40 PM, an officer was dispatched to a residence on Cornell Avenue for a barking dog complaint. Dispatch had received several complaints that a dog out back had been barking all day. Upon arrival, the officer parked approximately three houses away with his windows down to see if he could hear the dog barking. Immediately the dog was heard barking. The officer remained parked for approximately 15 minutes and the dog barked continuously the entire time. Christen Duffy, age 31 of Amherst, was cited for Barking Dog.

 

  • On Tuesday, June 24, 2014, at approximately 09:30 AM, an officer was dispatched to a residence on Weaver Drive in reference to a suspicious male who had dropped some items in the side yard of the residence. Upon arrival, the officer was advised the resident found a gray zip-up hooded sweatshirt. Upon inspection of the sweatshirt, the officer observed that it was the same sweatshirt that he saw a male wearing a short time earlier. The resident requested the officer document the incident and make contact with the male to advise him not to return to his property. The officer took possession of the sweatshirt and proceeded to locate the male in the area. The male denied the sweatshirt was his and he was advised to stay off the property. At approximately 09:46 AM, the officer was dispatched back to the residence on Weaver Drive in reference to the male returning to the property. Upon arrival, the officer was advised that the male had returned and pounded on the front door very loudly. When greeted by the resident, the male demanded to know where his sweatshirt was. He was told the police had his sweatshirt and was again advised to get off the property. The male then left the property. The resident advised he wished to pursue criminal trespass charges on the male. The male was later located hiding in the attic at a residence on Linn Road. Jonathan Lukachko, age 19 of Amherst, was charged with Criminal Trespass and Obstructing Official Business.

 

  • On Thursday, June 26, 2014, at approximately 12:19 AM, a traffic stop was initiated on a vehicle for a traffic violation. During the traffic stop, the driver was found to be in possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. The passenger provided false information about himself and was later found to have an active warrant after his true identity was learned. The driver, Joseph Gaines, age 41 of Lorain, was charged with Stopping Before Entering Highways, Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. The passenger, Khari Jones, age 36 of Lorain, was charged with Providing False Information to a Police Officer, Obstructing Official Business and No Safety Belt.
