June 15 - June 21, 2014

  • On Sunday, June 15, 2014, at approximately 02:05 AM, an officer was notified of a disturbance at a business on Park Avenue. He was advised by the owner of two underage males that were intoxicated and causing a disturbance inside his establishment. Shortly after, the two males were located and one of the males was observed urinating out in the open on the corner of Church Street and Park Avenue. The males were apprehended and charged accordingly. Ty Klein, age 20 of Amherst, was charged with Underage Consumption, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Disorderly Conduct Intoxication. Brendan Murphy Jr., age 20 of Lorain, was charged with Underage Consumption.

 

  • On Tuesday, June 17, at 7:23 PM, an officer was on patrol in the area of Cleveland Avenue and Harris Street when he observed a vehicle being operated by a suspended driver. A traffic stop was initiated and an investigation conducted. David Orzech, age 18 of Amherst, was issued a citation for Driving Under Suspension and Underage Possession of Alcohol.

 

  • On Thursday, June 19, 2014 at approximately 11:57 PM, an officer initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle for a violation. During the traffic stop, two of the passengers attempted to conceal the identity of a male who was later found to have an active warrant. The true identity of the male was obtained and he resisted arrest during the investigation. As a result, two of the parties involved were arrested. The passenger, Ryan Chobody, age 23 of Amherst, was arrested for Resisting Arrest, Obstructing Official Business and No Safety Belt. The other passenger, Natalie Cisar, age 21 of Sheffield Lake, was arrested for Obstructing Official Business. The driver, Jacob Pihlblad, age 23 of Lorain, was cited for Rear Plate Light.

 

  • On Friday, June 20, 2014 at approximately 02:26 AM, an officer was serving a warrant on a male and was given consent to search the male’s vehicle. The vehicle was occupied by two juvenile males and one juvenile female. During a search of the vehicle, marijuana and drug paraphernalia were located. The front male juvenile passenger admitted that the items found belonged to him. The juvenile male, age 16 of Vermilion, was subsequently cited into Juvenile Court for Possession of Marijuana, Drug Paraphernalia and Curfew.

 

  • On Saturday, June 21, 2014 at approximately 12:15 AM, an officer observed a vehicle northbound on South Leavitt Road. As the vehicle approached the intersection of North Ridge Road the traffic light turned yellow. The driver of the vehicle braked so hard that the vehicle lost control and spun, squealing its tires, ending up facing southbound in the northbound lane. A traffic stop was initiated and an investigation conducted. Jonathan Ralph, age 29 of Lorain, was cited for Failure to Control.

 

  • On Saturday, June 21, 2014 at approximately 3:25 AM, an officer observed a driver commit traffic violations. A traffic stop was initiated and an investigation conducted. The driver, Brian Monhollen, age 20 of Lorain, was cited for Failure to Signal Before Changing Course, Turning at Intersections and Prohibitions; Underage Consumption.  He was given a warning for Contributing to Child Delinquency. The passenger, a female juvenile, age 16 of Amherst, was cited for curfew and released to her mother.
