  • On Sunday, January 12, 2014, at 02:11 PM, an officer was on patrol on Cleveland Avenue at the 5 points intersection in downtown Amherst. The officer observed a driver commit several traffic violations. A traffic stop was initiated and an investigation conducted. While speaking with the driver, he exhibited signs of being highly intoxicated, and later refused to exit his vehicle. Upon further investigation, Marc Krol , age 43 of Lorain, was arrested and charged with Operating a Vehicle Intoxicated, State Refusal, Obstructing Official Business, Failure to Comply with a Lawful Order or Signal, Driving In Marked Lanes and Weaving Course.

 

  • On Sunday, January 12, 2014 at 11:00 AM, an officer was on patrol in the area of State Route 58 and Kresge Drive, when he observed a vehicle being operated with an expired registration. While behind the vehicle, the officer observed the temporary tag to read 01-28-14. It was blatantly obvious that the tag was altered to read 01-28-14. The "0" in 08 was scratched out and turned into a "2". A traffic stop was initiated and an investigation conducted. The driver attempted to portray herself as another female with a valid license. Tierra White, age 22 of Lorain, was cited for Driving under Suspension and Obstructing Official Business.

 

  • On Sunday, January 12, 2014 at approximately 04:34 PM, an officer was on routine patrol, southbound on Coopers Run approaching Middle Ridge. The officer observed a vehicle in front of him suddenly brake hard as it neared the intersection of Coopers Run and Middle Ridge. The vehicle was observed attempting to make a right hand turn onto northbound Coopers Run from westbound Middle Ridge. The driver of the vehicle made a wide right turn and drove into the southbound lane of Coopers Run. Upon seeing the vehicle traveling directly in front of the officer, the driver of the other vehicle slammed on the brakes, losing control of the vehicle, sliding into a tree lawn on Coopers Run. The vehicle then exited the tree lawn and reentered the roadway, coming to a stop at an angle in the middle of Coopers Run. The officer blocked the vehicle's path with the cruiser and approached the driver of the other vehicle. An investigation was conducted and it was learned the driver was a 15 year old female and the passenger was a 14 year old female. The driver advised the officer she did not have a driver's license and she had taken the vehicle without her parent's permission. The juvenile driver from Amherst, was cited for Failure to Control and No Operator's License. Both juveniles were released to adults.

 

  • On Tuesday, January 14, 2014 at approximately 9:45 PM, officers were dispatched to a business on Kresge Drive for a shoplifting in progress. It was reported a male and female were in the business. The female was observed hiding items in her purse and coat pockets. While officers were en route the two exited the store and entered a vehicle and started leaving the parking lot. An arriving officer observed the vehicle in question on Amchester Drive. A traffic stop was initiated and an investigation conducted. Kelly Vincent, age 40 of Lorain, was charged with Theft.

 

  • On Friday, January 17, 2014 at 8:12 AM, an officer was on patrol in the area of State Route 58 and Kresge Drive when he observed a driver commit a traffic violation. A traffic stop was initiated and an investigation conducted. Kareem Hunt, age 42 of Elyria, was cited for Driving under Suspension, Possession of Drugs and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Tyesha Scott, age 37 of Elyria, was cited for Possession of Drugs and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
