January 5 - January 11, 2014

  • On Sunday, January 5, 2014 at approximately 04:32 AM, officers were dispatched to a Tenney Avenue residence for a male that was beating on the front door and refusing to leave. According to the caller, they did not know who the male was. Upon arrival the male was located on the front porch. It was apparent the male subject was intoxicated. After an investigation, Douglas Hiser, age 40 of Avon, was cited for Disorderly Conduct and taken to the police department to await a ride home.

 

  • On Sunday, January 5, 2014 at 10:30 AM, an officer was dispatched to a parking lot of a business on Kresge Drive in regards to a female who was approaching people asking for money. An investigation was conducted and Lisa Makuch, age 42 of Lorain, was found to have an active warrant for her arrest. Makuch was cited for Obstructing Official Business and taken to jail on the warrant.

 

  • On Sunday, January 5, 2014, at approximately 01:42 PM, an officer observed a female, who had an active warrant from another department, sitting in the front passenger seat of a vehicle traveling northbound on Hamilton Street. The driver of the vehicle pulled into a residence and stopped at the end of the driveway. Officers followed the vehicle to the driveway and made contact with the female, who had already exited the vehicle. While speaking to the female, officers also spoke to the male in the car who had provided his name. The female was placed under arrest for the warrant and turned over to the other department. It was later learned the male in the car had given a false name and was in fact Jacob Rector, age 20 of Lorain, who had a felony warrant through another department. Mr. Rector was later arrested on the warrant, cited for Obstructing Official Business and turned over to the other agency.

 

  • On Sunday, January 5, 2014 at 02:43 PM, officers were dispatched to a business on Oak Point Road in regards to a female that was being detained for shoplifting. It was reported two other females were also involved but could not be located at the time. An investigation was conducted and the female juvenile, age 16 of Lorain, was charged with Petty Theft. One of the other females involved was found to be the juvenile’s mother. Initially she denied her involvement in the thefts but then apologized for her actions. The third female was reported to have left the business.

 

  • On Thursday, January 9, 2014 02:54 AM, an officer was dispatched to State Route 2 Westbound, West of State Route 58. It was reported a vehicle was driving recklessly. The officer located the vehicle in question on State Route 2 westbound just passing Oak Point Road. A traffic stop was initiated and an investigation conducted. John H. Shreve Jr., age 43 of Vermilion was charged with Operating a Vehicle Intoxicated, Weaving and Marked Lanes.

 

  • On Thursday, January 9, 2014, a juvenile male, age 17 of Elyria, was cited for Wanton Disregard For Safety after an officer observed him operating the vehicle he was driving in a reckless manner in a business parking lot and on Kresge Drive.

 

  • On Thursday, January 9, 2014 at approximately 09:50 PM, officers were dispatched to the area of a business on Church Street for a report of three intoxicated females outside causing problems with other customers. Upon arrival an officer observed two females and two males who appeared to be arguing with each other. While an investigation was being conducted, one of the females kept interrupting the officer. The officer directed the female to stand near a fence while he spoke to the other parties. The female refused and was escorted to the fence. This female then followed the officer back to the other group he was attempting to speak to. This time the female was placed in the officer’s police cruiser so he could finish speaking to the other parties. The female started beating on the window and after being told to stop she began beating on it even harder. Julia Otero, age 30 of Lorain, was cited for Disorderly Conduct Intoxication.

 

  • On Friday, January 10,2014 at approximately 1:33 AM, officers were dispatched to Middle Ridge Road in regards to a vehicle that had ran off the road and struck a mail box. It was also stuck in the yard. An investigation was conducted and Kenneth Moore, age 27 of Amherst, was charged with Operating a Vehicle Intoxicated, Failure to Control, Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

 

  • On Saturday, January 11, 2014 at 09:29 AM, an officer was dispatched to a business in reference a dispute between a boyfriend and girlfriend. The female reportedly assaulted the male complainant at that location and left in his vehicle. An investigation was conducted and John Butcher, age 26 of Avon, was cited for Possession of Drugs and Disorderly Conduct. The male was uncooperative and told the officers he only wanted to get his car and cell phone back. The female later returned to the scene. It was learned by the officer that the male and female had an argument. The female had kicked the male out of the car. Amber Londo, age 24 of Avon Lake was cited for Driving Under Suspension.
