June 9 - June 15, 2013

  • On Sunday, June 09, 2013, at approximately 02:21AM, an officer observed a vehicle stopped in a driveway leading to a business. The officer watched as the vehicle did not move for several minutes and was blocking traffic. A traffic stop was initiated and an investigation conducted. Laura Frasher, age 25 of Lorain, was charged with Possession of Marijuana and Drug Paraphernalia.

 

  • On Sunday, June 9, 2013 at 1:54 PM the Amherst Police Department received a call from a male who made a threatening comment about a specific officer. An investigation was conducted and Joseph Bender, age 18 of Amherst, was charged with Aggravated Menacing and Telecommunications Harassment.

 

  • On Wednesday, June 12, 2013 at approximately 07:15 PM, an officer was dispatched to a business on Oak Point Road regarding a shoplifter that was currently in the store. The officer met with security inside the store and began an investigation into the matter. Nathan M. Reicholf, age 19 of South Amherst, was arrested for Theft. He also was found to have a warrant for his arrest through another agency and was turned over to that agency.

 

  • On Thursday, June 13, 2013 at 3:12 AM, an officer was on patrol in the area of Forest Street and Park Avenue when he observed two males on bicycles riding south bound on Forest St. towards Park Ave. The males did not have lights on their bicycles nor did they look like they were over 18 years of age. The officer stopped the males and identified them as a 17 year old juvenile and 18 year old. The 17 year old male, of Amherst, was found to be in possession of marijuana and subsequently issued a citation for Possession of Drugs, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Curfew Violation.

 

  • On Thursday, June 13, 2013 at approximately 05:47 PM, an officer was dispatched to the Rock Creek Run allotment regarding a male going door to door trying to collect money for a charity. According to the complainant, the male was wearing a blue colored jump suit and medals around his neck. Upon arrival the officer located the male and stopped him. An investigation into the matter ensued and it was determined that the male did not work for the charity, but was collecting money to donate to them. The male did not have a permit issued to him from the City of Amherst on his person. Rodney Blankenship, age 49 of Lorain, was cited for License or registration required (Soliciting without a permit).

 

  • On Friday, June 14, 2013 at 01:17 AM, an officer observed a male riding a bicycle on Cleveland Avenue without any working lights. Due to the violation, the officer made contact with the male. The male was found to be a juvenile. The male, age 17 of Amherst, was charged with Possession of Marijuana and Curfew.

 

  • On Saturday, June 15, 2013 at 01:33 AM, officers were dispatched to a business on Kresge Drive. An employee recognized a male and a female inside the store that stole an unknown amount of meat the previous day. The employee believed they were attempting to steal again by stuffing items down their pants. An investigation was conducted and Dan Bullocks, age 36 of Lorain, and Abigail Simmons, age 26 of Lorain, were charged with Theft.
